- The drinks are fabulous, however, coupled with
the rude bartender, staff and waiter/waitress, it
doesn't make up for it. Overpriced, they act like they
are doing you a favor. I am surprised they are still in
business. We have been many times with friends &

- I went with a party of 8. Our waiter was
friendly and knowledgeable. We were not rushed one
bit. We enjoyed crab cakes and pizzetta for our
appetizers which were delicious! Then I had the shrimp
scampi which was wonderful. My husband had $22.00
chicken which although tasting good, was a bit over
priced we thought. All in all, though, a great
experience. We would recommend the restaurant whole
heartedly. |

- We had a terrible experience at Strega. Don't
let the fun and trendy atmosphere fool you. The food
was terrible and very expensive. The filet was
overcooked, the chicken dish which was recommended by
the server had no flavor and the ravioli was decent
tasting but they were still cold in the middle. I gave
the feedback to the hostess and head waiter and their
respone was please try us again. There is no way we
would ever waste our money there again. You need to
hire more experienced wait staff and a seasoned chef. |

- Make your reservations more than one day in
advance. This place is similar to a restaurant on
South Beach, Miami. Impressive Facade and interior,
age range seemed to be between early 20's to mid 30's.
Friendly doorman, Heather a waitress went out of her
way to clear a dining table since there were no table
or barstools to sit at. In the interim got the corner bar seats
furthest from Lafayette St. The purpose of this is to
relate the terribleness of the three bartenders on
duty that night. My date and I were really dumbfounded
by how busy and unorganized the restaurant was.

- Where do I start? First I waited for my
reserved table for 25 minutes on a Wednesday night
with no thought of asking my date or myself if we
would care for a drink or app to tide us over. When we
got to the table it took another ten minutes for us to
get menus, server, and twice asking for a wine list
and a glass of water. The server was miserable, rude
and unknowledgeable about very simple questions I had
about the menu. When the food arrived at the table I
asked myself is this our food? I got the braised lamb
(well I though that's what I got) and my date got the
ravioli (that was definite). Her Food was ok besides
the under cooked ravioli, mine however thank God I'm a
chef, there was wine, salt, pepper, and I asked for
some butter so as I could fabricate some kind of sauce
for my dish because it was lacking one in total.
Finally there was no "How was your food?"
the bill was kind of tossed at us and no Thank you
from anyone while leaving.

- Not just another new restaurant!. The
downtown location is walking distance from even the
train. But for us locals we now have a classy urban
retreat to fall into. The food and service were
outstanding, the atmosphere terrific, all of this and
they had only been open 4 days! Welcome to Salem, and
thanks for creating such a unique and exciting dining
experience! |

- This was our second trip to Strega. Our
first was in early August shortly after they opened.
We loved that experience. This time, however, was a
different story. While the food and our server were
great, the general manager and the owner were both
less than stellar. The general manager came through
about an 45 minutes after we were seated and had had a
bottle of wine and appetizers, to let us know we
needed to hurry up as our table was booked for a
second sitting about 45 minutes later. And he didn't
want us to miss the wonderful dessert, so we needed to
hurry up and have our dinner. Well the two other large
tables beside us were empty all evening, up until the
time we left at about 8:45 ( our table was due to be
re-seated at 8:30 - so apparently the 8:30 patrons -
all three tables of them - were no-shows ). We asked
to speak to the owner, as we had never been asked, 45
minutes into an elegant dinner to 'hurry up' and the
owner let us know the same as the GM had. Our table
was booked, and it was not like this was 'Mistral'
where you could have the table for the night. Last
time I checked, 45 minutes was not 'the night' and a
res. at Mistral didn't get you the whole night... No
apologies, no offer of - can I buy you a nightcap at
the bar - can I offer you dessert - just 'sorry that's
the way it is' and 'oh but by all means sit and enjoy
yourself as it appears the later reservation hasn't
arrived yet'.... I have to say I loved my first visit,
but because of this there won't be a third. Don't go
to Strega unless you're willing to spend $100 hurrying
through a meal... Better yet, go to the North End to
the other ( the first ) Strega. You'll get better
treatment and a better meal. |
