Comments and Suggestions - Only negative is that the parking out frond is full most of the time so it is hit or miss if you find a spot there. But there is a couple of other bigger parking lots across the street and behind the building. Also, the tables are a tight fit sometimes.

Comments and Suggestions - I love it there...we know the bartender from England who is very nice and greets us always. I have never had a bad experience in all the years I have been there. It is a very cozy and quaint place and there could be a significant wait. But the wait is well worth it. It is a bit over priced but then again it's well worth it!

Comments and Suggestions - This place is amazing! My fiance' and I first ate here last Valentine's Day and came back to Salem this year for the Ice carvings and of course to eat here! Their coconut soup is the one I judge all others by and the others  never come close!!!   The food is wonderful, service is amazing and personal, and you feel like royalty! Heck, we drive from PA to eat here!

Comments and Suggestions - Every review here is dead-on. I lived in India for three years as a kid and have loved the cuisine ever since then. I've been to many Indian restaurants up and down the East Coast, and this is close to the best I've ever found. The personal attention that the owner gives his diners makes it particularly enjoyable.

Favorite Menu Items - Vegetable Samosa, Chicken Curry, Chicken Korma, Shrimp Saag, Shrimp Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan
Comments and Suggestions - I've been a huge fan of Indian food for years, and this has to be one of the best restaurants that I've ever eaten at. The wait staff was attentive and remembered us from previous visits. The owner was also very friendly, and talks with his customers, which shows that he cares about your dining experience. The food was excellent and the prices are very good. Now I no longer have to trek to Boston or Providence for good local Indian food; I can enjoy it right in the town we live in.

Favorite Menu Items - Shahi Paneer Korma, Kasmire Naan, Paneer Pakoras
Comments and Suggestions - So good it's not even funny. My girlfriend and I visit the restaurant no less than 2 days a week these days and it never gets old. The food is just so fresh and perfectly spiced to order. I almost cried the first time I ordered the Shahi Paneer Korma  *HOT* and it actually came *HOT*. The servers are friendly and actually remember return customers, which is a welcome change from the Cambridge places I used to frequent. My only critique is that the place is pretty cramped and for such high quality food I'd expect a little more privacy in my dinning experience. PS-Try the Paneer Pakoras. They will blow your mind.

Comments and Suggestions - Love the place. My first time having dinner there, My other two experiences were lunchtime. I have not had a bad dish yet. The cool breeze from the doors near the bar, created a slight discomfort. Right now the bar is not opened, but they will be re-licensed in early April. In the absence of alcohol, I chose a delicious and very refreshing yogurt drink.

Comments and Suggestions - The tables are a bit to close for my comfort, but the food is absolutely amazing! Best I've ever had, out of 19 countries I've been to. You can get the food as spicy or as mild as you like it. Absolutely Wonderful!

Comments and Suggestions - This was probably our 8th time dining at Passage and while the food as always was excellent, the overall experience was not. The servers were inexperienced and not well trained. There was a definite language barrier but they did not try to bring over someone more fluent in English even though we asked them to. The appetizers came quite quickly which was fine, but our main course came less than 5 minutes are we got our appetizers. This is not the first time this has happened. The servers should not be putting in the complete order, if the kitchen cannot time things better. The tables on the bar side should not be used during cold winter nights - at least not the first two closest to the door.. We had a reservation and were told we would be seated on the non-bar side. We weren't and every time the door opened there was a blast of cold air which was very uncomfortable. The owner said that he did not expect such a big crowd on such a cold night, and obviously they were not prepared.

Comments and Suggestions - Amazing!!!!! No more trips to Boston and Cambridge - although the decor needs Queer Eye's help. A little bland for a dynamic kitchen. This won't stop me though....just a suggestion :)

Favorite Menu Items - Jalfreize was fresh, crisp and clean. The Chicken Tikka Massala smooth and robust.
Comments and Suggestions - A good quality traditional "English curry house" with wide selection and great food. The prices are a little steep with main courses around $12 each.

Favorite Menu Items - onion naan, shrimp korma, mint dipping sauce and veggie samosas.
Comments and Suggestions - The tables were a little too small for all the food we ordered and were a bit too close together. Also the tables were too close to the door constantly swinging open with a draft. Other than that my first experience was great. I'm very finicky and great authentic Indian restaurants are so hard to find so I have to say there will be a return visit. The food came straight from the oven very hot and very fresh. I do not easily impress. I loved it! Hopefully they'll do so well they'll expand and won't have a problem with the tables anymore.

Favorite Menu Items - Matter Paneer! Make it HOT.
Comments and Suggestions - When the sign went up over Passage to India, my girlfriend and I were excited but skeptical; too many restaurants on the North Shore fail to live up to their counterparts in Boston and Cambridge. Passage to India is an exception. This place ranks in the top 3 Indian restaurants, anywhere, for us (we had some good Indian in Amsterdam.. but seriously, how convenient is that?) The staff are attentive, enthusiastic and friendly and they remembered us from previous visits. The food is excellent. If you like your food spicy make sure to ask for it. I love hot food and do not find dishes acceptable unless I specifically request "hot". But this is true of all Indian places I have been to. The tables are a little on the small side and perhaps a little too close together but this can be forgiven, as we have never really had to wait, yet the place can be packed. The atmosphere is simple but vibrant with lots of people coming and going for take-out and a TV over the bar (but you can sit in a different room if that bothers you). I personally like that it's upbeat. Don't worry about parking; park in the large lot that services Starbucks and the UPS Store, and just walk over. Passage to India.. the goods are good.

Favorite Menu Items - naan, brown chutney, shrimp gao curry, mango lassi.
Comments and Suggestions - Excellent Indian food. All the servers are excellent. The owner Hugh is very welcoming. I have been several times for lunch and tried different dishes each time. All excellent. Make sure to try the mango lassi and the tandoori chicken naan. To die for!

Favorite Menu Items - Non-vegetarian Thalis (a sort of sampler) Chutneys and sauces.
Comments and Suggestions - WOW! What great food. No more trekking to Cambridge for top notch Indian food. My fiancé has an allergy to MSG which was not a problem-they don't use ANY. APTI will probably become a weekly event for us. It is that good. We arrived at a busy time and the wait staff seemed a little overwhelmed. The host (and I believe owner) was gracious and attentive. Parking out front is hit or miss but there is a big municipal lot behind the building.

Comments and Suggestions - Excellent food and atmosphere. Hugh, the proprietor is extremely gracious and welcoming. The food is first rate. Tables can be a bit too close together for true comfort -- particularly in the first room where the bar is located. Overall however, an excellent addition to the Salem eating scene. It will be a regular haunt for us (small pun intended).

Comments and Suggestions - Service was great, fast, and polite. The best samosas I've had in years. Our dishes were just right (they specifically asked how spicy we wanted them). The presentation of the food was also excellent.
